Hin Musang AKA Shark Point

Shark Point or Hin Musang in Thai is a group of four underwater rocks - pinnacles, the highest of which protrudes two meters above sea level. A group of rocks stretches from north to south at depths of up to 25 meters.

The first two pinnacles are the most visited because with strong currents, which in this place is more the rule than the exception, not all divers can even reach the third pinnacle.

The dive site got its name from the leopard sharks (zebra sharks), which can often be seen underwater here. In general, the diversity of living creatures at Shark Point can amaze even experienced divers.

Huge schools of fry, various reef fish, tuna, trevally, large barracudas, trevally, stingrays, multi-colored groupers, moray eels, lionfish - you won’t find anything here.

The underwater rocks are covered with a variety of colorful soft corals and anemones, which are home to clownfish. Quite often you can find turtles, cuttlefish and octopuses here.

As a rule, the dive starts from the north side of the first pinnacle. Depending on the direction and intensity of the current, divers move along the eastern or western side of the rock.

In places where the rock ends and the sand begins, there is a high probability of encountering a leopard shark. Sometimes you can meet two or three sharks in one dive. Also on the sand near the rocks you can find spotted stingrays, which try to camouflage themselves on the bottom and hide when divers approach.

If the current is not strong, then you can go around the first pinnacle in a circle and then go south to the second pinnacle.

The second pinnacle has a flat shape in the north and ends in a vertical wall in the south. The top of this wall is located at a depth of 5-6 meters, which allows you to comfortably carry out a safety stop even in very strong currents - you just need to hide behind a rock and admire the beautiful soft corals covering the top of the rock until the mandatory three minutes are over.

As a rule, we conduct Advanced Open Water Diver courses and a special Drift Diver course at Shark Point.
